Description
Sichuan pepper is named for the mountainous region in China where it has been grown for centuries. Called “flower pepper” in China, this spice that is rare in Europe is not actually a pepper. Belonging to the Rutaceae, also known as the citrus family, its berries are more reminiscent of a fruit than a peppercorn.
A balance of fresh citrus and spicy notes, Sichuan pepper is strong and aromatic. In its complex bouquet, notes of fresh citrus, green and bergamot contrast with warm, spicy notes.
